Arunkumar Rathinam is a Research Associate at the Surrey Space Center, University of Surrey, UK. His research work focuses on the development of autonomous spacecraft navigation algorithms to safely rendezvous with target to perform on-orbit servicing operations. He received his Doctorate from University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia in the research "SLAM-based autonomous navigation for spacecraft near small celestial bodies". He received his ERASMUS dual master's degree in Space Science and Technology from University of Würzburg, Germany and Luleå University of Technology, Sweden. His work experience includes deep learning, robotics, and product design across different companies and space research organizations. He won the “Move an Asteroid Competition” conducted by Space Generation Advisory Council in 2018.
